Faulkner stated in the London 'Daily Mail' that due to the development of the moving-picture business, American slang terms invaded the picture theatre, are used in the common talk in London as the men in control of this business are either Americans or Englishmen who have lived in the U.S. Corruption of the English languages by American words has gone to amazing lengths.
