Summary

(To the Editor, S. C. M. Post) Sir, – It has been my privilege to view several very excellent pictures at the Queen's Theatre, but of late the pleasure of viewing these pieces has been considerably marred by the poor music accompanying them. Last evening, I went along to see 'Captain Blood.' The whole piece was spoilt for me by the ear-splitting, nerve-racking noise created by the orchestra. Surely when a picture depicting guns being fired is shown on the screen, it is not necessary for the man in charge of the drum downstairs to go temporarily mad, or for deafening explosions to be let off at the same time. In a Chinese theatre such exhibitions might perhaps be appreciated, but for the average Hongkong cinemagoer, it reduces what is a really good show to a farce. We may hope for an improvement. – Yours, etc., 'F. G.' Hongkong, December 18, 1925.
