Summary
Within last year (according to a writer in the New York Herald) there has been a marked lowering of salaries throughout the motion picture ranks, amounting in some instance to more than 50 per cent. A sage of Hollywood thus summarised the present salary situation. Several top listed actor and actress had been mentioned including Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Conrad Nagel and Mary Miles Minter. For example, First National Pictures agreed to pay Chaplin one million dollars for eight pictures, 'A Dog's Life' was mentioned. Fairbanks spends enormous sums on his production 'The Three Musketeer,' which cost not far from 750,000 dollars.
