Summary

The management of the Empire Cinema of Singapore was fined $25 and costs by Mr. David in the District Court for exhibiting a film after a notification had appeared in the Government Gazette stating that the film had been banned. The film is entitled 'Rio Grande,' and it had been originally passed by the Film Censor, but it was later recalled at the request of the F. M. S. authorities, and a notification to that effect was inserted in the Government Gazette. The party more to blame were the distributors of the film. The defendant got this picture along with another from Messrs. Pathe Freres. The case was postponed.
