Summary
Evidence of the phenomenal and rapid growth of the kinematograph as a means of public entertainment is to be found in London and every provincial town, but in the United States it has caused quite a furore. Moving pictures of the historic Durbar pageantry have drawn to the theatre the most fashionable people of New York. The previous big picture show was the Coronation series, and the highest priced seats for that were four shillings. Mr. Charles Urban, the chairman of the Natural Colour Kinematograph Company, mentioned that the entire American rights were secured by Schubert Bros., who control 400 theatres in the States and Canada. In fact, it became a fashionable thing in New York to invite friends to a private kinema show.
