Summary
Lumiere's Cinematographe was exhibited in Hongkong for the first time in a matshed (open-air theatre) specially erected for the purpose near Pedder's Wharf. There was a large and appreciative audience and the various items of the programme were loudly applauded. Scenes from the Paris Opera Comique and the Jubilee Procession were represented together with a large collection of miscellaneous subjects including many humorous ones. The Lumiere's Cinematographe is an improvement upon similar instruments by which the trying vibrating effect of the pictures is reduced to a minimum.
