Though much has been done to promote education in this Colony, it is still in a backward state and is likely to remain so until staffs are increased and some departure is made from the stereotyped methods employed. Several times we have urged the adoption of the cinema and much higher authorities than any in this Colony have recognised its value. Speaking on Health Education, Dr. W. W. Peter, of Shanghai, advocates the film as the best means of teaching health principles to the Chinese. Dr. Peter has some 26,000 feet of films from Great Britain as well as several thousand lantern slides. These deal with 'The Care of Children,' 'Mosquito Control,' 'A Modern Health Crusade,' and 'Jinks, a Health Comedy,' all of them, cleverly arranged with sufficient of a story to maintain the interest of the audience.
