Summary

One of the local cinematograph theatres has been screening a film founded on a novel by Gabriele D' Annunzio. The manufacturers tend to produce morbidly sensational novels rather than dramatised or photographic representations of recognised plays. When Victor Hugo's 'Les Miserables' was shown in Hongkong, people went by the hundred, and sat for hours, to watch it; and the same thing happened when 'The Three Musketeers,' 'The Last Days of Pompeii,' etc. were screened.
