Summary

The attendance at Chinese theatrical performances does not appear to be affected by hot weather. The Ko Shing, West Point is continually crowded and sometimes literally packed, so that the authorities are compelled to step in to ensure public safety. A Chinese official from Ko Shing was summoned, at the Magistracy in the morning for allowing 300-400 people to stand up in the gangways. Mr. F.A. Hazeland inflicted a fine of $50 and told the defendant that he would have to limit the number of tickets sold for the performances.
