About a year ago the famous house of Pathe, in announcing its intention to enter the big feature field, gave out a list of 'Extra Selected Star Photoplays,' each of which would feature a well-known and popular player, and for the production of which would be called into play all of the most skilled forces of the motion picture art. Pathe has amply fulfilled its roseate promise, for during the year this house has presented Frank Keenan in 'The Bells,' 'The Midnight Stage,' 'Todd of the Times,' and 'The Silver Girl'; Bessie Love in 'Carolyn of the Corners'; Bryant Washburn in 'All Wrong'; Fannie Ward in 'A Japanese Nightingale,' 'The Narrow Path,' 'The Cry of the Weak' and 'The Profiteers'- all included under the description of 'Extra Selected Star Photoplays.' 'The Profiteers' is the tenth of this series and will be presented at the Victoria Theatre on New Year's Night. It is produced on behalf on Pathe by the Astra Film Corporation, specially written for Miss Ward by Ouida Bergere and directed by George Fitzmaurice.
