Among the institutions which have been brought into existence during the past few years as a powerful educational factor we must include the cinematograph. Recently a comment was made by a distinguished dignitary as to whether it was advisable, in the best interests of children, that they should frequent cinematograph shows, as many of the pictures presented were not necessarily of a mind-improving character. The proprietors of the shows in Hongkong have proved in the past that they are capable of judging to a commendable degree what appeals to the public, and what has real entertaining and educational value.
