Summary

On Empire Day (May 24th), Kowloon's new cinema, the Star Theatre, will be opened with a gala performance. The new enterprise is the work of Mr. Lee Yue-cheong, who has belonged the distinction of possessing one of the biggest and certainly the most attractive looking theatre building in the Colony. The appearance of the theatre is enhanced by the highly ornamental dome-concaved ceiling over the auditorium, with electrical arrangements. The seating accommodation, for 600 people, is divided into stalls and dress-circle. The wing that extends the length of the building on the Hankow Roadside will be used for refreshment rooms, offices and lavatories. It is designed by Messrs. Palmer and Turner. The cost of the building is $100,000; Photo of the Star Theatre was included.
