Summary

The popularity of the film and 'super-production' like Douglas Fairbanks latest 'The Thief of Bagdad,' has an impact in London for building more supercinemas. In the last two years the New Tivoli and the Shepherd's Bush Pavilion, both magnificent, have been opened. In the Haymarket the Capitol Kinema, very imposing with its gold and glass dome, is nearing completion. Theatres are also being utilised for films. Since the war the old London Opera House has been the Stoll Picture Theatre. At the New Scala the Griffith film 'Love and Sacrifice,' banned because it deals with the American War of Independence and was considered anti-British, recently passed by the Film censors is being shown. 'Monsieur Beaucaire,' a film starred by Rudolph Valentino also draw crowded houses.
