Summary

Force of Example – It is still fresh in the public memory, the Osaka journal recalls, that last spring two French warships came to these shores loaded with special French products. They also carried representatives of the various chambers of commerce in that country and many businessmen who endeavoured to introduce to Japanese traders the present state of industrial progress in their country by the help of cinema films. It is reassuring to note that Osaka Chamber of Commerce is going to propose a similar plan to the general meeting of the Union of the Chambers of Commerce, to be held at Kyoto on the 2nd inst. Its idea is that under the auspices of the Union, propaganda films of various kinds should be prepared, and a number of Japanese merchants and industrialists should be sent abroad. – Asahi
