A large number of Chinese businessmen attended a dinner at the Kam Ling Hotel in honour of the Chinese actor Mei Lan-fang. The gathering included the Hon. Mr. Chow Shou-son and the Hon. Mr. Ng Hom-tze. The customary toast of the Chinese Republic and the President of China having been honoured, the Chairman (General Tang Yu-kwong) said that it was in the name of the Tung Lok Wui that the engagement of Mr. Mei Lan-fang and his troupe was arranged. An unsuccessful attempt was made by the late Mr. Lau Chu-pak to engage Mr. Mei Lan-fang to perform before His Royal Highness at the Tai Ping Theatre.
