Summonses against the Victoria Theatre, the Tai Ping Theatre, the Hongkong Theatre and Empire Theatre were heard yesterday at the Police Court. The case of the Victoria Theatre, which was summoned on three counts, was heard first, the charges being for neglecting to close a passage or gangway not less than three feet wide in the rear of the seating circles. Mr. H. W. Ray was present as the manager of the Victoria Theatre, he mentioned that he had only been the manager for three months.The manager of the Tai Ping Theatre was summoned for not having the required number of fire buckets filled with water as indicated and required by a licence. The manager of the Hongkong Cinema Theatre was summoned for failing to keep wet blankets immediately outside the box containing the cinematograph instruments during the performance. The manager of the Empire Theatre was summoned for failing to have the required number of fire buckets filled with water during a performance. Details of the cases are included.
