Much interest was manifested some months ago when it was announced in the Press that a corporation had been formed, with a capital of 5 million dollars to establish cinema shows -'throughout China.' Latest advice from Shanghai seems to indicate that the preliminary steps have been taken. It is said that this company, working through the Peacock Motion Picture Company of Shanghai, are negotiated with present exhibitors. Apparently, Hongkong will not be affected much by the proposed scheme, for the Hongkong Amusements Company have arranged to take the pick of the new concern's pictures. For the Peacock Co.'s selector is Mr. Chamberlin, who for many years was the Chief of the Distributing staff of Paramount Pictures. It is interesting to learn that the first Peacock film is to be shown at the Coronet on Saturday. It is a Metro production called 'Hearts Aflame.'
