Summary

Wanchai now has an up-to-date cinema. The Grand, which stands on the site formerly occupied by the old Eastern, seats some 650 persons and is stated to be the largest picture theatre in the Colony. It is a fine imposing edifice. The interior decorative scheme is in white, the lights being in frosted globes. There are lobbies upstairs and down, and in the first-class accommodation downstairs, tip-up seats are provided. Numerous fans at intervals ensure adequate ventilation, and altogether it is a very comfortable building. One of the features of the Theatre is the operating box on a level with the screen, a great aid to perfect projection. The Grand, it may be mentioned, is the only cinema so equipped in the Colony.
