Enquiries at the Wo Ping Chinese theatre, opposite the Central Market, yesterday elicited no confirmation of the rumour that the theatre is to be demolished to give room for the construction of the new Fire Station. An official of the concern states that no definite arrangement has arrived at the question. The adjoining houses are more likely to be involved than the theatre. The theatre was only recently built, following on the demolition of the Empire Theatre as a result of a dispute between old and new lessees. The land is held on short tenure from the Government.
