Summary

Mable Ballin's followers were justified in asking her husband, Hugo Ballin, the painter and motion picture director and producer, to present her in a new picturization of Thackeray's 'Vanity Fair.' The first screening of that picture, distributed by Goldwyn, took place at the World Theatre last night. The film has been done in a spirit of reverence for Thackeray's conception. Mr. Ballin has achieved some unusual spectacular effects in the great Brussels ball on the eve of the battle of Waterloo. In the notable supporting cast are Hobart Bosworth, Eleanor Boardman, Earle Foxe, George Walsh, Harrison Ford, Willard Louis and Robert Mack.
