First he was in Government service, then became a manager of Connaught Hotel, next he took a share in a one-price foreign good store, then he joined the Hongkong Cinematograph, later became a partner in the Salon-Cinema Theatre, ran some cinematograph shows in Canton, had a tea-shop in Jardine's bazaar, guaranteed some coolies to America.
