Summary

(To the Editor, S. C. M. Post.) It is very gratifying to see Mr. Ray's defence in justice to super-production picture prices for it gives one change to grasp both sides of the argument. Super-production pictures are now practically an every other day affair. To my mind, a super-production picture nowadays is simply the boosting up of unusually lengthy films by extravagant advertising. For example, at the World Theatre, the film 'The Flirt,' extensively advertised, was screened at a matinee show for $1.60 and 80 cents, whilst some time later the same picture shown by another Company at Kowloon cost only 80 cents and 40 cents. Occasionally, the public is served with second rate films and there never was a reduction in ordinary prices, so it is well for the management of the various cinemas to note carefully the charges on an occasionally good film. At present, as it stands, super-production prices are exorbitant.
