Summary

New Scala Theatre screened a 'super' production film entitled 'Passion.' This will be the first screening of a German film in London since the outbreak of the war in November. The film was screened in Germany under the name of 'Madame du Barry' [sic] featuring Mlle. Pola Negri, and also has been shown in America. Such screening will help counter the prejudices against German films. The Exhibitors' Association that banned all German films for at least five years after the date of Armistice, has now reconsidered the matter and has left it to the individual discretion of the exhibitors. Last May the firm of Goldwyn announced that they had obtained for exhibition in Britain four other German super-films, including 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,' 'Sumurun,' 'Destiny,' and 'Othello,' but none of these have yet been shown to the public.
