There is a belief amongst the police that hawkers who sell tickets for the Wo Ping Theatre are in league with pickpockets. It is said that whilst the theatre-goers were engaged in buying the tickets, the thieves operated upon them, and with some degree of success as has been evidenced by frequent complaints which have been made to the Police. As the Police could not bring forward evidence to prove this allegation, they had something to be thankful for in being able to arrest one of these wily hawkers on a charge of being unlicensed. The man was fined $10 at the Police Court this morning.
