Middle East Films, Ld., whose head office in Singapore, is about to open an office in Hongkong. Mr Joe Fisher, general manager of the company, and Mr Ernest A. Hopson, who represents several South African corporations connected with film art are in Hongkong and informed us yesterday that Middle East Films, Ld., opens at 16 Queen's Road Central as from 1st September next. Meantime the company has already entered into an arrangement with the World Theatre for the first exhibition of its productions which are entirely British in origin. Miss Gertrude MacCoy [sic], a well-known British artist, has gone out under contract with the South African Film Production Co. (one of the interests represented by Mr Hopson) to star in pictures to be produced, 'Chips' and 'The Blue Lagoon.'The company's recent productions are 'King Solomon's Mines' from Rider Haggard's famous book, 'Allan Quartermaine' [sic], and the 'Symbol of Sacrifice.' The latest British news will also be available through the Middle East Film Company in the form of a Topical Gazette by each mail.
