The Middle East Films, Ld., whose head office is in Singapore, is about to open an office in Hongkong. Mr. Joe Fisher, the general manager of the Company, and Mr. Ernest A. Hopson, who represents several South African corporations connected with film art, are in Hongkong. The first exhibition of the Comany's production is arranged with the World Theatre. A feature of this film enterprise is that it not only exhibits films but it manufactures them also. Miss Gertrude MacCoy, a well-known British artiste, has gone out under contract with the South African Film Production Co. to star in three pictures to be produced – one being entitled 'Chips' and another 'The Blue Lagoon.' One of the Company's recent productions is 'King Solomon's mines,' from Rider Haggard's famous book. 'Allan Quartermaine' [sic] and the 'Symbol of Sacrifice' have also been produced.
